Corrosion Inhibition of Mild Steel using Bee PSollen (BP) as inhibitor in acidic medium (HCl and H2SO4)

Bee Pollen was assessed for its performance as corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in H2SO4 and HCl. By obtaining the mild steel, which where sized to 2-2 cm2 coupons, they were grouped into two place to note differences as they appear where the first group was with the corrosion inhibitor and the second is without the inhibitor. The weight of the samples was assessed initially and after the coupons were subjected to different washing method. Each group containing different samples of A, B, and C respectively, were dipped in HCl of volume 0.2ml, 0.4ml and 0.6ml respectively which served as the final weight. Using pollen be as corrosion inhibitor a high inhibition efficiency of 90.9% was attained. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were employed to analyse the bee pollen and mild steel surface. This study proves insight into the efficiency of Pollen bees as a potential corrosion inhibitor of mild steel in acidic media.
